Phinney to BMC

Few riders are more well known throughout cycling than Taylor Phinney. There is of course Lance, maybe Contador, possibly Cavendish, but that's about it. Oh, and did I mention he's only 18. The young rider has quite the resume under his belt with a few World Track Pursuit championships, a few stages in some minor races this year, an appearance for the 2008 Beijing games, and most recently became the US National Time Trial champion. He will now be taking this resume to BMC Racing. He recently announced in a press conference that BMC would indeed be his 2011 choice, after the rumor started a few weeks ago.
What it means...

For Phinney: Well, I think he had something good going with Lance and the Shack but BMC will offer him a chance to get going sooner. They also will be giving him a flexible schedule, allowing him to compete in some track events as well as road. His role with Livestrong (and later Radioshack) became more of a TT specialist, and while he will certainly get his chances at the TT, he will also develop his skills more.

For BMC: Jackpot. That is all.

For Radioshack: It's not like he had a huge role with the team, but it is frustrating when you put in all the work and time to develop this kid into a road cyclist without being able to reap any of the benefits. Oh well, I guess that's all part of the game.
