Eneco: Tuft Takes Prologue

Tuft beats strong time trial fieldEveryone knew Svein Tuft was a very good time trial rider, but I'm not sure anyone expected him to ride as well as he did. Tuft won the Eneco Tour prologue time trial by outriding some world class TT specialists like Edvald Boasson-Hagen, Jos Van Emden, and even Tony Martin. Even more impresively, he did it in the rain. As soon as he saw the conditions would be much less than ideal, he devised a plan to take a significant number of risks on the 5.2 km course. The plan worked, and nobody got within 5 seconds of his time. Tuft will try to hold his leader's jersey on tomorrow's stage that seems pretty well suited for the sprinters, but not a definite.
