TDF: Best Riders

Best Overall Rider It is only common sense to say Alberto Contador for this one. He did exactly what he had to do, and whether or not you agree with his tactics, efficiently got himself his third Tour de France. He does his job very well and used his mastery of the arts of climbing and time trial to assure himself the top spot in Paris. Congrats on another success Alberto.
Best Sprinter
Though Petacchi did win the green jersey, he did not even come close to the sprinting success that Mark Cavendish had. Cav totalled 5 stages (1 short of his total last year) and won every bunch sprint but one. (He lost stage 4 to Petacchi) He also proved his worth to the team in other senses that he won his last two stages with absolutely no leadout after teammate Mark Renshaw was disqualified. He got himself 5 stages closer to the history books, and put to bed the myth that he couldn't do it without his leadout. I'd say that's a solid month's work.
Best Climber
Once again I have to go with Contador on this one. He stayed perfectly on Schleck's wheel throughout the mountains and then used his energy wisely near the top.
Best TT Rider
There is not even a shade of doubt in my mind when I say Fabian Cancellara. The reigning world time trial champion won both of the time trial stages and even got himself the Maillot Jaune for a couple of days. Tony Martin is coming up on him, but for now nobody can even compare to Spartacus.
