Euskaltel-Euskadi comes into this year's tour with rather high expectations. They bring a powerful lineup and have set themselves goals. They would like to collect a stage win, but more importantly they will be giving their support to top rider Samuel Sanchez.
Sanchez, an Olympic gold medalist in 2008, is the top competitor on the Spanish team. He is a good overall rider, and can adapt himself to different kinds of situations. He isn't off to the greatest start this year, but has proven himself more than capable to overcome the obstacles and grab a strong finish. He will have a powerful team behind him that can assist him in some of the more difficult stages as well. Perhaps the most powerful of his teammates is Egoi Martinez de Esteban.
Martinez is a good climber, and can be valuable assistance to Sanchez in the climbing stages. Also, and maybe more important, I consider Martinez to be a contender for this year's King of the Mountains jersey.Full Roster:
