This year's Paris Tours race was timed perfectly by the peloton, and I really mean perfectly. The field caught final escapee Geoffrey Lequatre with less than a half of a kilometer left in the race and at a time when the sprinters were already shuffling into position. Oscar Freire was one of them, and fought off the strong wind best to take the victory. The wind was clearly a factor, as the sprinters were clearly struggling to keep their tempo and position on the course. Freire was very happy to take the win, a win that many are referring to as a consolation prize for his inability to win the sprint at the Worlds. Freire actually started his sprint significantly later than 2nd place finisher Angelo Furlan, and needed to manufacture speed to power himself past the Italian rider.2. Angelo Furlan
3. Gert Steegmans
