Carlos Barredo will be riding for Rabobank next year. The Dutch team today announced a two year deal between them and the Spanish stage hunter. What it Means...For Barredo: This is great news. He gets to keep his current role except with a better team. Rabobank is in somewhat of a rebuilding year but the team has a clear direction set for 2011 and Barredo will play a key role. Carlos will be even more of a factor this year because he may have a teammate or two at his disposal, although there will be times he will need to work for Sanchez or Gesink. I still say this was a great move!
For Rabobank: How can you go wrong. Barredo is incredibly versitile and can be a smaller race team leader and a Grand Tour stage hunter/domestique. I love this signing, and I'm sure Breukink does as well.
For QuickStep: Oh well. Barredo was fun while he lasted and his absense will be noticed, but it is not the end of the team. They still have legit stage hunters like Chavanel and will continue to be a presence next year.
