Today's cycling calendar was obviously headlined by the annoucement made by Cervelo officials on their folding, as there were few noteworthy events going on.
-Markel Irizar won the 4th stage of the Tour du Poitou Charentes with a great time trial run, beating out AG2R's Martin Elmiger and Radioshack teammate Haimar Zubeldia by less than a second. Those 3 (in that order) also make up the General Classification going into tomorrow's mostly flat but still challenging final stage. Ignatas Konovalovas, Anthony Roux, and Maxime Bouet are the other notables with a chance at victory.
-Jeremiah Bishop won stage 4 of the Breck Epic mountain bike race in Colorado and increased his lead in the General Classication.
-Rasa Leleivyte won stage 4 of the Trophee d'Or female stage race and Emma Johansson kept her 17 second General Classification lead with 2 stages to go.
-Russian Petr Ignatenko won stage 3 of the Giro Cyclistico della Valle d'Aosta with a late attack and also took control of the GC.
-Rubens Bertogliati will ride for Team Type 1 next season in an effort by TT1 to put their squad on the international scene.
-Niki Terpstra, Koos Moerenhout, Lars Boom, Jos Van Emden, Sebastien Langevelde, and Karsten Kroon were the first 6 men selected to the Dutch world's team. All of these men, especially Boom and Langevelde are great one day classics riders and Van Emden is also a world known time trialist.
