On this final day before the Vuelta, the events were yet again small-scale with the biggest news being about the Garmin-Cervelo situation.
-The official announcement was made that Cervelo would take over as the secondary sponsor for the Garmin team, making the team Garmin-Cervelo next year. It is still unclear how many of the riders will go with the switch, though it was rumored that Haussler and Hushovd would be a part of the team next year. The women's squad will also be Garmin-Cervelo.
-Saur Sojasun rider Jimmy Engoulvent won the Tour de Poitou Charentes after making up the deficit in a late breakaway that Radioshack was unable to chase down in time. Engoulvent's teammate Jimmy Casper won the final stage.
-Thomas Bonnin won stage 4 of the Giro Cyclistico Della Valle D'Aosta, while Petr Ignatenko kept the overall lead going into the final stage.
