Lampre-Farnese Vini team had a great day Wednesday, sweeping the top 2 spots in the stage and GC at the same time. Rider Mirco Lorenzetto outsprinted teammate Grega Bole to the line to grab himself the stage win and leaders jersey, while Bole took 2nd in both of those categories. It wasn't quite the decisive day some expected it to be, though many of the sprinters were dropped from GC contention as expected. Beyond that, a few riders moved up in the standings but it is still well up for grabs. Pre-Race GC favorite Alessandro Ballan took 3rd in the stage and also moved to 3rd overall. The storyline remained about the same for the race, being an early breakaway that was chased down by the main field followed by a series of late attacks that were also matched. The one twist was the small time gaps that opened throughout the stage. Stage Results

If yesterday didn't spread apart the field, this stage certainly should. Lots of climbs and a summit finish should make for some major time gaps.
