Bernocchi: Belletti Upsets Top Sprinters

Manuel Belletti outsprinted the likes of Cavendish and Farrar to grab himself the Coppa Bernocchi title. Though the Coppa Bernocchi is not considered to be a majorly important race on the world scale, it did feature quite a standout field of sprinters preparing for the Vuelta. Cavendish's leadout was executed quite well, but it was the young Belletti who was raising his arms across the line. Belletti called it the biggest win of his career, stating that all of the major sprinters except for Petacchi were there and it meant more than his stage win at the Giro because of the competition. Cavendish blamed his loss on his lack of form because it was only his 2nd ride since the Tour.
