Vuelta a Mallorca Update

I find it nearly impossible to write an adequate preview of the "Vuelta a Mallorca," because in fact it's not even a Vuelta at all.

It is actually a series of 5 different "Trofeos" (like a Grand Prix) that are all in the same general area but are not grouped together.

The official name is the "Challenge Cyclista a Mallorca" and it will be the same teams competing in each event but each squad brought a whole mess of riders that they will mix and match in the 5 events.

Therefore, it is impossible to actually preview who will excel in what race until it actually happens.

The teams are:

Team Radioshack
Garmin-Cervelo
Leopard-Trek
HTC-Highroad
Omega Pharma Lotto
Team Katusha
Rabobank
Team Movistar
Euskaltel-Euskadi
Geox-TMC
Confidis
Skil-Shimano
Orbea
Caja Rural
Andalucia Caja Granada
NetApp
Price Your Bike
Spanish Team Track
German Track Selection

Usually, the riders get to pick which events they prefer to race in.

I'll bet all the sprinters will pick tomorrow...

Trofeo Palma (Feb 6)
A 10 lap (11.6 km each) crit around the city that is dead flat. This will be a sprint, no doubt about it.
