Sagan Wraps up Sardegna

Slovakian supertalent finishes week with strong finish. Peter Sagan wrapped up a week of dominance in Sardinia with a 4th place finish on the final stage to clinch the GC victory.

3 out of 5 stage victories and never a finish out of the top 5, it is safe to say that this was the Giro de Sagania. He is a proven sprinter, but he was battling right up there with the leaders on the climbs as well and looks poised to make some noise next week in Paris-Nice.

His Liquigas team should also be given quite a bit of credit, because I don't remember a single stage where the front of the peloton wasn't covered in Liquigas green, and every one of them were protecting Sagan. He obviously delivered.

The Lampre duo of Scarponi and Cunego made some major noise today on the dirt road leading up to the line, but they could not completely lose Sagan.
Scarponi's objective was to attack Sagan and set up Cunego, but Cunego was unable to go with him and he went solo for the stage victory. Jose Serpa also attacked and gained enough ground for 2nd. Cunego was 3rd for the day, but Sagan was only 3 seconds off his back wheel and just managed to hold on for the overall title.

Very interesting road into the finish today. It's not often you see a professional road cycling stage end on a dirt road, but it didn't seem to cause too much problem to the riders.
