Cav finally gets Vuelta stage after superb leadout by Goss.
Mark Cavendish tore the field up at this year's Tour, but seemed like he couldn't buy a win at this year's Vuelta. Well that all changed, and all he needed was a nice helping hand from the team. Matt Goss gave Cavendish an absolutely perfect leadout that Cav described as "incredible." Cavendish gave all credit to Goss, and said he had originally planned to not challenge Goss for the win until the young Aussie pulled to the side to give the glory to his teammate. Cav gets the win on the record, but Matt Goss's name really should be printed next to him. (Goss actually took 3rd, because he sat up to watch Cav cross the finish line and Farrar snuck past him.)

It was a pretty routine day for everyone else, with minimal change in the GC picture. There was a slight peloton split and some outside contenders lost about 20 seconds but nobody in the immediate GC picture gained/lost any ground. Igor Anton had a nice cruise across Spain today, holding on to his red jersey without much difficulty. Cavendish did take the points lead away from him though, but he was not expected to keep it anyway.

Tomorrow could be another sprint, and the only question is whether it will be a sprint between some of the surviving fast men or if the whole field will be present. There is nothing too dangerous on this layout, but there are a few bumps that can potentially drop some sprinters if not handled correctly by the teams.
