Leipheimer Wins LT100 in Record Pace!

Ok, this is one of the rare instances where you will see something other than road cycling on this blog, but it was a pretty big deal. Levi Leipheimer won the Leadville Trail 100 mountain bike race in Colorado, crushing his nearest opponent by 8:44 and destroying the previous record by even more. This would normally not be such a big deal, except for the fact that the previous record holder was none other than Lance Armstrong. Armstrong was also scheduled to race in the event this year but had to sit out with an injury. Though on paper it looked like an easy win for Levi, it was anything but. On top of the grueling course and conditions, he also had to deal with a pretty serious crash. He fell quite hard braking for a turn and was hit by an oncoming rider. He seems to be ok, and it should not effect his entry in the Tour of Utah later this week. Jeremy Horgan-Kobelski took 2nd and Todd Wells rounded out the top 3.
