Leipheimer Closes Strong in Utah!

Leipheimer backs off for Crawford, Wins Tour of UtahIn this final wrap-up stage, it was only fitting that Levi should be there to share the glory with the stage winner. Leipheimer teamed up with eventual stage winner Jai Crawford on the final summit finish and then backed off near the finish to allow Crawford to take the stage while he wrapped up his overall victory. Crawford had been running an incredible stage, sticking with Levi all the way through the final climb. It seemed like Levi would have the advantage on the sprint for the stage, but he humbly sat up while Crawford got rewarded for all his hard work on the day. Modesty was the story of the race for Levi, with the cycling superstar and heavy GC favorite downplaying his chances after every stage, though it seemed he increased his lead every day. His final winning margin of 2 and 1/2 minutes was not only impressive by itself, but by the fact that he did it without any teammates in the race. This is just a testament to just how good of a climber/time trialer that Leipheimer really is.
