Cervelo Test Team did a marvelous job last year for a new team, and hopes they can do the same in their sophomore season. They have a strong contender in both the overall and sprint categories, so it is possible they could do even better. The leader of the Cervelo squad is obviously Carlos Sastre.
Sastre has been battling injuries for the last month or so, but appears to be fully recovered now. The 2008 Tour de France champion still has a few years of very high quality riding in him, and could land a top 10 finish for Cervelo. His final result will mainly depend on how well he climbs the later stages in France. He was always a very good climber, but it is unknown how well he will be climbing after his injury. While much attention will be on Sastre, Thor Hushovd will receive a fair amount of focus as well.
Hushovd has a few Tour stages to his credit and would love to add to that total. He is also aging and may realize that this is one of his last chances to add to his Tour legacy. He is big, powerful, and still has the energetic burst required to be a world class sprinter. The rest of the Cervelo squad will mainly be support to Sastre and a few designated to leadoff Hushovd.Full Roster:
Carlos Sastre
