TDF: Best Ride

Though there are several individual performances worthy of consideration (Riblon-stage 14, Voeckler-stage 15, Cancellara-stage 19), none really sticks out like that of Andy Schleck on Tourmalet (stage 17). Schleck was a man posessed, and though he did not manage to put any time on Contador, set a blazing pace up the monster mountain and got his name in the history books with a stage win.
Schleck made his move midway through the high part of the final slope and turned himself inside out on the way up the climb. Though he could not drop Contador, he clearly had him in distress and Contador was forced to sit on Schleck's back wheel while Andy did all of the pacemaking. Contador did launch one massive attack with 3 km to go, but Andy was not to be denied. This was truly a ride into the history books for both men, but I will give the prize of best individual ride to Andy for all of his hard efforts.
